Sponsored by the Technology and Innovation Management Division of the Academy of Management, Innovation: Organization and Management (IOM) journal, and LaSalle URL.
When: 08-09 March 2019
Where: LaSalle Universitat Ramon Llull, Barcelona, Spain
To be considered for inclusion, papers should broadly relate to digital innovation within and across organizations, in line with the remit of Innovation: Organization and Management (see the journal information here and here). IOM is a new journal that seeks to publish outstanding scholarly work at the intersection of innovation and organization theory.
The workshop offers an opportunity for scholars to develop their ongoing work in a friendly and collegial environment. The workshop will be developmental – each paper will be allocated a senior scholar as a discussant and receive feedback from peers with similar research interests. In addition, there will be a panel discussion and presentations by senior scholars on how to meet the challenge of publishing innovation papers in top journals. Accepted (and relevant) papers that are sufficiently developed will be encouraged to be submitted to a planned “Digital Innovation” Special Issue in IOM (details to be provided later).
Confirmed mentors include Markus Perkmann (Imperial College London); Nelson Phillips (Imperial College London), Marcel Bogers (University of Copenhagen); Elena Novelli (Cass Business School); Hans Berends (VU Amsterdam); Lars Fredriksen (Aarhus University); Philipp Tuertscher (VU Amsterdam); Llewellyn Thomas (LaSalle URL).
The event should be of particular interest for those recently graduated with a Ph.D. or doctoral students who have a well-developed manuscript; scholars more advanced in their careers are also welcome to attend. Selection of papers will be based on an extended abstract of up to 2000 words. The deadline for submission of extended abstracts is 1st November 2018. Full papers will be required by 31st of January 2018.
The LaSalle URL is pleased to host and jointly organize this workshop with the TIM Division of the Academy of Management and Innovation: Organization and Management. The conference will involve a mix of young faculty, late-stage doctoral students and senior colleagues who will discuss papers and offer developmental advice. The atmosphere is expected to be collegial, informal, but centered on progressing working papers with the objective of getting them published in leading journals. The editors of the Innovation: Organization and Management journal will also provide insight into the publication process. There is no conference fee, and LaSalle URL will cover breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks and dinner. Participants must make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
Submission of abstract: 1st November 2018
Notification of acceptance: 1st December 2018
Full paper due: 31st January 2019
Workshop will start on Friday 8th March at 18:00 (social meeting and dinner) and end on Saturday 9th of March at 18:00; there will be an optional dinner on the final evening.
