    Dear colleagues,
We are delighted to invite you to our AOM 2026 presenter symposium, "Beyond Productivity: How Artificial Intelligence is Reshaping Work, Identity, and Control." Link here. The symposium will take place on:

    Monday, August 3
    1:15–2:45 PM
Philadelphia Marriott Downtown: Level 5: Salon L
    1201 Market St, Philadelphia

This symposium brings together a terrific group of panelists to examine how artificial intelligence is changing work in ways that extend well beyond productivity. The session will feature presentations by Peter Cappelli, Anil Doshi, Nan Jia, and Hatim A. Rahman, with Neil Thompson serving as the discussant.

The panelists will explore several broad themes at the center of current debates about AI and the future of work. These include how generative AI changes employees' day-to-day experiences of work, task crafting, perceived progress, and job demands; how passive versus active use of AI affects confidence, ownership, and meaning; how occupational communities shape whether AI leads to augmentation, deskilling, or shifts in professional jurisdiction; and how algorithmic management and large language models are transforming managerial control, accountability, fairness, privacy, and employee voice.

Together, the presentations offer a multi-level view of AI as a sociotechnical force that is reshaping not only what people produce, but also how they experience agency, identity, autonomy, and control at work.

We hope you will join us for what promises to be a lively and timely conversation.
    Best,
Deepika Chhillar and Derek Lief (Organizers)
