    Dear colleagues,

The Competitive Strategy Interest Group is organizing its annual workshop on "Your Tenure Package: How Do Letter Writers Read and Evaluate It?" which will take place at the 2026 SMS Annual Conference, in Berlin (Germany).

The workshop will take place on Saturday, October 17th, 2026 at 1 pm – 4 pm Berlin time.

As usual, we have a fabulous list of panelists who will give participating junior faculty and post-doctoral scholars i) advice on how tenure packages are assessed from the point of view of letter writers, and ii) personalized career advice on their research identity:

    • Rajshree Agarwal (U of Maryland)

    • Raj Choudhury (LSE)

    • Samina Karim (Northeastern)

    • Martin Ganco (U of Wisconsin)

    • Mary Tripsas (UC Santa Barbara)

    • Olenka Kacperczyk (LBS)

The first half of the workshop will feature presentations by the panelists describing the letter-writing process, explaining how they evaluate a tenure case, and providing advice for junior scholars. This portion is open to all and does not require registration.

The second half of the workshop will feature small roundtable discussions, during which junior scholars will describe their intended research program and receive feedback and advice from senior scholars. This part requires pre-registration, which can be found here: link to pre-registration.

The registration requires you to enter:

    (1) An updated CV

    (2) A research statement (maximum 3 pages)

    (3) Your top 4 preferences in terms of panelists that you would like to be matched

Application deadline is July 27, 2026. We look forward to receiving your applications and seeing you soon in Berlin!

    Kind regards,

    The workshop organizers

Johanna Glauber (IE Business School), Hyo Kang, (Seoul National University), and Christine Choi (UNC)
